Unknown to many, there is a beautiful island in the country of Japan that has beautiful bodies of water, rich cultural heritage and vibrant nature. I am very lucky that I was able to explore and visit the city of Ishigaki Japan. This island is located in the  Okinawa Prefecture which is much closer to Taiwan archipelago compare to Land of the Rising Sun’s capital of Tokyo. The city is really a great place to relax with a very calm ambiance, almost zero pollution, no heavy traffic and friendly people.

As a Cruise Director onboard a cruise ship, I have the privilege to wander around places as I need to learn everything about our port of calls to be able to sell the tours to our guests onboard.

Roadtrip in the Island of Ishigaki Japan

We took a private car with our English speaking Japanese Tour Guide and  headed first to Kabira Bay. The sight itself is really soothing to my eyes and I can just stare at the view for the whole day . From here, you can do a Glass Bottomed Boat ride and explore under the sea and enjoy the view of other small islands nearby. The boat will also bring you to the black pearl farm which is also one of the popular best buys in the island.

After the boat ride, we also visited the Pearl Shop and Museum. We just took photos around but did not purchase any pearl. Too expensive for a Cruise Ship worker.

Next stop of our tour is the Limestone Cave. And since this is my first time to be inside a real cave, well I can say that I am a bit impressed from what I have seen. The stalactites and stalagmites in the cave are gorgeous and the dripping sound of water from the ceiling is like music to my ears.

Before going back to the ship, we did stop in Torinji Temple for a photo ops. It was like seeing a Japanese classic themed movies when I had my photos there because the place is so vintage.

It was a fun day wandering around this small island of Ishigaki. Where I had been this time were just the few of the highlights in this small city and I am going to tell you more on my next Ishigaki Tour Escapade because I am definitely going out again.
